I'm Shelley May Buxey, founder of StrongLiving Personal Training operating in Lewes

My journey into the health and fitness industry began with a passion for netball and athletics. I was fortunate enough to play in the Premiership for England — an experience which taught me the demands of high-performance sports. This experience led me into the world of health and fitness.

I studied Sport Science for the next three years, achieving a BSc degree at the University of Brighton. Having obtained substantial knowledge, I have taken on the numerous roles in Sport Science Lecturing within the South Coast and in East London.

Wanting to become more specialised as a Personal trainer, I targeted my business towards functional strength training and rehabilitation sports massage. I wanted to combine my two new interests, leading me to work for world leading training provider Premier International Training. I worked as a fitness tutor, delivering and assessing personal training and CPD courses, ranging from studio cycling, suspension training, exercise to music, and sports massage.

Teaching students how to become effective personal trainers is now leading passion and movement. I invest my time in educating prospectus PT students all the important elements on how to make the most effective Personal Trainer and PT business. This is run as a mentorship offering insights on my business and inparticular how I manage and support my clients.

I had been thinking for some time to try to get a bit fitter so I decided to take the plunge. I discussed my requirements with Shelley. I was very unsure how I would be able to achieve this as I had not joined a gym before. She suggested that having a personal trainer would help me to achieve my goal. It has been a steep learning curve but one that I have not regretted. I was very fortunate that Shelley was assigned as my personal trainer. She was really friendly, supportive, and encouraging right from the start, which was very important to me. Shelley makes every session varied and challenging, encouraging me to attain a greater level of fitness at each session. I have already noticed that I have much more energy generally and also even better, that my body shape is changing, particularly around the waistline area. I know that I am not there yet but with continued effort and Shelley's support, I feel that I can improve my fitness levels to attain my goal.
